Stephen got in late on Saturday. He had flown into Baton Rouge earlier in the week. On Saturday morning they loaded up all of Daniel’s possession in a moving truck and put his car on a trailer behind the truck, then headed our way. Got here much later than they expected so they just dropped off the truck and trailer at our house and we took them to a hotel for the evening.
Sunday he got a chance to walk around the house and our property showing Daniel where he had grown up. He even found the old pet cemetery on one of the trails down by the creek. Actually I guess it is more of a hermit crab cemetery as most of the burials were hermit crabs. Bruce’s parents used to take the kids down to Galveston when they were little and they frequently bought them hermit crabs which did not survive very long.
One day while Bruce was talking to our home buyers about cleaning the trails he mentioned watching out for the cemetery. Of course at first he did not bother to tell them it was a pet cemetery. I think he just wanted to see the shock on their face.
We then went to the storage location and got the truck loaded with everything Stephen was taking from here. Mostly it was furniture (living room, dining room and the office) and some totes full of Christmas decorations.
After a quick clean up at the RV we headed to eat at Pappasitio’s where Heather was meeting us. Came back to the house where they picked up the truck and trailer and headed west to Stephen’s home in California. It is a long drive for them but they are not going to rush.
