B and D – On the Road

Closing Day

We finally got closed on the house.  It went very fast.  We met our realtor at the title company signed a few papers, confirmed our bank account number for the deposit of the proceeds from the sale and it was done.  Realtor gave us a lovely Tiffany crystal serving platter.   I told someone that was the most expensive platter I own when considering how much you pay in realtor commission and the other closing cost.

Thought we were all done and we headed out to eat lunch.  Just as we finished we got a call and had to go back to the title company to sign one more paper that we had previously done electronically.  It was hung up in the system and the lender would not release the funding for the buyer until they had the document.  We drove back over and signed the document and talked with the buyers for a few minutes.  We had spent several hours with them the day before going through things at the house.

The woman buying the house likes flowers so I had spent some time with her going over all the flowers and where I had acquired them.  As we got up to leave the woman came at me with her arms out and tears in her eyes and grabbed me in a big hug telling me how much she loved the house and flowers and was so thankful we had picked them to buy the house.  It was more than I could handle, so I started crying as she told me I could come back and get flowers when we settled into a new home.

Once we got out of the building I was fine.
