The movers showed up today and in about 3 hours they were able to take everything out of the house and garage. We have been here for 29 years and had lots of stuff. We had already packed all the small items in boxes and totes so they only had to load stuff in trucks. They were very careful wrapping the furniture to protect it and kept everything straight between the two trucks. Part of the furniture will eventually go to our son in California, after a short stay in the storage unit he reserved for a couple of months. We took a short break for lunch then they took everything to storage and had it unloaded in about one and half hours . We have used Two men and a Truck before to move our daughter and Bruce’s parents and have always been very pleased with their work. Of course it was actually four men and two trucks for this move. I told them we would be hiring them when we returned.
Learned an interesting fact this week, when you move out of your house you need to change your insurance. Since it is vacant your normal home owners policy will not be valid. You need to buy a special policy and cancel the home owners. This then led to other changes, the policy on our motor coach since it is now our primary home and then our umbrella policy. Poor Bruce, it took days to get it all straight.
Anyway most of the items are now in storage. Still have tools in my mini barn (garden shed) and there are a few things still in the barn. These are things we will need over the next month to finish any yard work.
