Closing on our home will not happen this week. We got through the inspection and the appraiser came but now he has disappeared. Our realtor said he is not responding to attempts to contact him by the lender or the other realtor. We are not sure he did much of an appraisal since he did not show up in the two hour window that was blocked out of him. The alarm did not get disabled until about 15 minutes after his scheduled time was up and at that point we were on the way there to pick up our mail. We got there in about 10 minutes and there was no sign of him and the alarm was disabled. We got the mail and rearmed the system and left.
We signed the papers giving them a one week extension. It did include a requirement for a significant additional deposit if they needed an additional delay. This was advice given to us by Bruce’s sister as she had delays while trying to close on the sale of her house.
In the mean time, our buyers have moved into the RV park very close to us.. Bruce met them at the house one day when we went to investigate the alarm being turned off when it wasn’t scheduled to be off. We could see in the camera that it was their realtor but we still went by to check. At that time they still did not connect us with the RV park. It wasn’t until we were coming in from church a couple of days later that they recognized the car and came over to speak to us. Since that time we have talked a few time about coordinating the switch over of the electric service and the alarm system. We have agreed to come over the day before closing and walk them through some of the items around the house, like the sprinkler system, the garage door openers, the Versa Lift in the barn, the programable thermostats, etc.
